Summon a skateboard like a mount and your character drops onto it, in your own gear, with Skate 3’s flick-it tricks, grinds on any ledge, powerslides and bails, anywhere in Azeroth. Skateboarding is even a profession: land trick lines to level it from 1 to 300 and unlock abilities like Rocket Boost and Moon Jump.
How it works
It runs on benilla, a from-scratch World of Warcraft 1.12.1 client written in Rust, plus the open-source Skate 3 Rust engine, so both halves are rebuilt code that could be joined directly. An engine transplant. Everything runs fully offline against a local server on your machine.
What you need
- Linux, or Windows (experimental; the creator is asking for testers).
- World of Warcraft 1.12.1, English client.
- Your own extracted Xbox 360 Skate 3 (an
.isomust be extracted first). - An Xbox-style controller.
- Docker, around 20 GB of free disk, and a few hours once for the server’s map extraction.
Setup reality check
The setup script checks your machine, asks for your game folders, converts what it needs, builds the local server and creates your account. It is thorough but long. The creator is upfront that it was vibe-coded with Claude Code “just for laughs” on top of other people’s serious work, and offers best-effort help only.
