CS-Craft started as a from-scratch rewrite of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s runtime in Rust. It reads maps, models and weapon data from your own CS:GO install, and you can play a local 5v5 on de_dust2 against bots. Then it added a Minecraft Overworld mode: CS:GO movement, weapons and HUD in a streamed Minecraft world, with crafting, furnaces, the Nether, strongholds and a custom Ender Dragon fight.
How it works
It follows the same approach as the MW2 × Skate 3 × Minecraft mashup: rebuild the game in Rust on the Bevy engine, then join other rebuilt games into the same runtime. It deliberately shares their content scheme so the games can be stitched together later. An engine transplant. The README credits the code to Anthropic’s Claude.
What you need
- CS:GO on Steam, switched to the
csgo_legacybeta branch (Properties, then Betas). - Minecraft: Java Edition installed, for the Overworld mode’s assets.
- Windows, 64-bit.
Install in short
Download the Windows zip from the official releases, unzip it anywhere, and run it; the CS:GO install is found automatically. Pick Overworld in the map selector, or use the included Play Overworld.cmd. N toggles between tools and weapons, I opens the inventory.
It is a playable prototype: grenades, wall penetration and online play are unfinished.
