Fly your ship to a planet, get out, press F6, and you are playing real Minecraft there. Break and place blocks against the planet’s real surface, light TNT, and build a house on Timber Hearth. Press F6 again to get back into your spacesuit. The house stays, even after the time loop resets.
How it works
It is a passthrough mod built on SkyCraft. Minecraft simulates the player and the blocks; Outer Wilds draws them on the planet with its own lighting, plus Minecraft’s hand and HUD on top. Each patch of planet maps to its own area of the Minecraft world, which is how your builds persist. A live bridge.
What you need
- Windows and Outer Wilds on Steam, started once through the Outer Wilds Mod Manager.
- Minecraft: Java Edition with Fabric Loader 0.19.5 or newer for 26.3, and Fabric API.
Install in short
Unzip the release into the Mod Manager’s Mods folder, put the OWCraft Minecraft mod and Fabric API in your .minecraft\mods folder, start Minecraft with the Fabric profile, then start Outer Wilds from the Mod Manager. Minecraft opens its own void world once Outer Wilds connects.
The creator calls it experimental but playable: tested on one Windows PC at 60 fps.
